The Québec City region covers the territories of Portneuf, Jacques-Cartier, Québec City itself, Île d’Orléans and Côte-de-Beaupré. Each area possesses its own ‘terroir’, leading to a multitude of discoveries along the way. Businesses offering hosptality services and interpretation are grouped along the
Gourmet Route Gourmet Route
. Members of this network grow and process fine products with much enthusiasm, and use original methods. They will welcome you to authentic locations where you’ll be able to see, sample, smell, touch and learn about the flavours and the know-how of their art.
Within the region, there are four circuits from which to choose:
- L’éveil des sens [awakening the senses] (Portneuf and Jacques-Cartier)
- Québec, capitale gourmande [Québec City, the gourmet capital]
- Le parcours de la Nouvelle-France [a journey through New France] (Côte-de-Beaupré)
- L'île d'Orléans, terre de tradition [tradition in the soil].
With such a rich ‘terroir’ in the region, each circuit offers businesses in different sectors of food production: cheeses, ciders, ducks, chocolates, gourmet specialty oils, etc. The selection is as extensive as the imagination of the most discerning gourmet.
Information about the Gourmet Route is available in tourist information centres in the form of a map, and online at
www.parcoursgourmand.com/eng/default.asp. Among other things here, you’ll find an
interactive map, which allows you to search by territory or by product, an
agenda listing the main agritourism events in the region, and a detailed description of the services offered in each business.
